One Song = Flooding Memories

You hear a song that might not be your favourite and you haven't listened to it for a while and then BOOM! this one song, lasting three/ four minutes brings back so many memories. This one song brings back so many good memories of one particular day last May. I've spoken about going to Radio 1's Big Weekend on 15th May 2011 but not about this song.

So the song, you're all probably wondering? Katy B - Katy B On A Mission

To be quite honest, out of the songs she has released so far this is not my first or second favourite but it brings back loads of memories from that particular day. Katy B was actually performing but we missed her because we were either watching Two Door Cinema Club or Noah and the Whale - I can't remember which one but it doesn't really matter because it's irrelevant to my point.

Whilst we were there and waiting for acts to start, there was music on to get us in the mood and Katy B On A Mission was replayed so many times - and  I mean loads! We were there for about 10 hours as well. From not liking the song that much and not really knowing any of the words, me and my friend nearly knew all of the words as we sang along after the 50th or something time it was played. Major exaggeration but ya'know what I mean.

It brings back waiting for the acts, singing along, the muddy fields and our wellies, the minging porta-loos, having chips that blew away, sore feet and breaking backs (there were no places to sit and the fields were far too muddy) and having a brilliant time. Seeing so many acts, being with my best friend was so good and something I hope to never forget.

I think it's amazing that one song can bring back so many memories. Are there any songs that bring back good or bad memories for you?

How are you welcoming in 2012?

I never do anything for New Year and I really wish I did. One good thing about 2012: I'll be 18 in December so it'll be off to town hopefully! I think I'm going to do my review of 2011 tomorrow. Oops should have been in 2011 :/ Anyway have a good one! :)

The Run Up To Christmas

I've been busy busy busy this week, which is surprising. I broke up from sixth form on Friday, woo! But I've got to go back on January 3rd, which is pretty crap. I was finally 17 on Tuesday :D I had my first driving lesson ever :S I didn't feel stressed or nervous because I didn't really know what to expect apart from being in the hot seat. I wasn't terrible but I'm looking forward to doing my next lesson.

I've actually just booked my theory test for January. It's really soon but the test is changing for the worse at the end of January, so my driving instructor said it would be best to do it now. The Highway Code that I ordered the other day and it came today - seriously it's so boring! and, I'm sick of reading it already but I'm going to revise, revise, revise so hopefully I don't have to resit a harder test :/

Yesterday, me and my friends went to see Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows. It's actually really good! I loved the first one and this one is a great sequel. I'm shit at reviews so I'm not going to even try and do one and I don't want to give away any spoilers. And, my meal at Frankie & Benny's was very yummy :P

I can't believe it's Christmas eve in two days. Woahh! Are you's excited for Christmas? This year has flown over but I'm starting to look forward to the upcoming festive days a lot more. Shame there is no snow at the minute. Having it in December makes me feel really christmassy but I hate it in January. 'Cos to be quite honest January is the most depressing month ever!

Ist of...

It's December 1st - Christ, (no pun intended) where has this year gone? It has went so much quicker than last year and that pretty much zoomed by. This year has been a pretty big year for me, in loads of different ways and I am 17 this month! Woo! Anyway this day means:

* 1st door of advent calendar :D
* Xmas decorations go up
* Countdown to my birthday starts - 19 days to go! (even though I'm not doing anything special)
* Countdown to Christmas day starts - 24 days to go!

So in celebration of this little day, I'm doing 1st place (of everything I can think of at the moment) of things for the festive period. Join in too on your blog or in the comments below. I would love to see what you choose :)

Christmas song.... Band Aid - Do They Know It's Christmas
This song has such a lovely meaning to it and is definitely one of my top favourites. Some people don't like the modern one but I do as well!

Christmas advert.... Coca Cola
This may be an old advert but it never gets old for me. Every single year I've loved it. And, the truth is when this first comes on the TV you know it's nearly Christmas.

Chocolate.... Terry's Chocolate Orange
This is seriously one of the best types of chocolate to eat year round but especially at Christmas time!
Favourite board game.... frustration
This was quite hard but I love this game. I love a game of monoploy too though!
Christmas film.... The Snowman + The Grinch
I absolutely adore these films. I used to watch The Snowman year round when I went to my grandmas and Walking In The Air (also another fave song) would send me to sleep! So that's why I have the song by Aled Jones above. This film is so good and I think it's amazing how it has no words. And, The Grinch is just brilliant :)

Favourite part of xmas day.... Christmas dinner (well it's lunch but I call it dinner :D)
It's a Sunday dinner with extra food - and an extra twist: you get to pull crackers woo!

Favourite drink.... Bucks Fizz
I love this with my christmas dinner. Sorry but I ain't a fan of baileys :(
Can you think of any other festive things? Let me know, and I'll do them too :P

Prom

Okay, this is the time for my Prom post. I'm wondering if maybe I've made it out to be more of a spectaular post than it's going to be but here are a few pictures I would love to share with you all. There were loads of pictues took that night but many of them were of similar poses and with the same people. Even though I have hugeee heels on, I'm still a midget! (as shown above) I also don't have all of the pictures yet so there is only a few here.

It was such a great night and I'll definitely have memories of it for a long time until my rubbish memory starts to forget them and blur them together. But the main thing was I had a laugh with my friends and we all had an amazing time. All of the 'preparation' for Prom finally ended and lasted one night only. It was quite sad too especially as the last song by the DJ was Robbie Williams 'Angel'. I love this song to begin with and me and my closest friends danced together, sang together and hugged eachother at the end. It truly was a memorable experience and I'm so happy that I went and shared that night with everybody.

Day 5 of 15 -

Day 5 - A picture of somewhere I've been too...

Halkidi, Greece
June 2010

* My own photo
One of my favourite holidays I've been on, the hotel was gorgeous with it's own beach and I had a great time with my family. The photo above is the view from my balcony on the first day that I arrived there. It was lovely and very hot!!

Day 3 of 15 -

Day 3 -  Short term goals for this month and why...

As I'm posting this a day before the last day of March, I'm doing my short goals for April. I actually have been looking forward to posting this one as I haven't actually done goals for the month on here before.

1) Get in some revision
Why? - I have my final exams in May and June and I want to actually do some revision (even if it a month before) so I feel more prepared for when they come around.

2) Take lots of pictures in Paris
Why? - Does this one even need a reason? I went to Paris two years ago (It only feels at least six months/ 1 year ago at least) My camera isn't the greatest but I want to take more pictures than the first time round and then post them on here!

3) Lose weight
Why? - I always feel so much better after I've lost a few pounds and with prom around the corner in June, I want to find a dress and feel good, confortable and not self concious in it.

4) Try and save up some money
Why? - This is probably unlikely as I have already dipped into my pocket money for April and with out a doubt I'll probably be off to the cinema soon and I want to buy clothes but I always feel really good when I've saved up some money.

5) Blog regulary
Why? - I blog quite regulary anyway but sometimes I can waffle or not post for a few days after I have done a challenge. However good news for my followers who read my posts more or less daily - I actually have some posts planned for the rest of this month!

Note - Aplogies again but whilst I'm doing these posts, I will be delaying my next Time to Smile posts for another two weeks so that I concentrate on the challenge until I finish it. It will be back shortly with a one off theme to that week's Time to Smile :)

Time to Smile - #121-125

Title: Time to Smile #121-125
Weekly Post Day: Wednesday
Details: This is my weekly wednesday post which will feature five things each week which I love, make me happy or make me smile. Mostly all three! Hope you enjoy :)
(You can find the others in the tab above)

I can't believe that is Wednesday already. I always feel that once a Wednesday at school has passed, which is always the most boring day, that the last two days always go really quick. I can't wait for the weekend, I don't think I'm doing anything special yet but it's great to have days off even if it is only two days! Here's another Time to Smile post - I think I could be running out of things that make me smile pretty soon. I'll just have to get my thinking cap on :)

121. Great blogs which I love reading but can also relate to

122. perfume testing in shops

123. Marilyn Monroe quotes, definitely inspirational

124. babies! (I'm not broody as I'm only 16 but they are just too cute!)
I love their little hands and feet.

125. good photo taking!
(Half the time I'm rubbish)

I was also really pleased today that I found out that I had recieved an award 'The Versatile Blogger Award' for the second time!! I promise to do the rules of recieving the award tomorrow. But for now: have a really lovely day.

First Time For Everything!

Hope everyone had a great weekend and that you've been able to get through today. Agh Monday - the first day of the week where you have to get up early and the first day of school for the rest of the week. This morning when I woke up, I instantly thought 'I can't be bothered today and with the rest of the week!' But I got through it and I've had a few laughs throughout the day! Including a funny incident when a girl fell off her chair - it might sound mean to laugh but it really was funny.

On saturday, my mam's friend came to our house for the last time for a while with her baby. It was great to see them again because we normally only see them every two/three years because she lives down in Devon and we live in the North-East. Anyway back to the point of the post: my mam's friend was saying that we should go to hers again in August and that maybe we should go camping in Cornwall. My mam's friend and her partner are really 'outdoorsy' people and she loves camping!

(Cornwall)

When I think of camping I think of mud, rain and more mud but I think there are a lot of misconceptions out there about it even though there are some really nice sites. Hope we're near the beach!

My mam said that it would be a good laugh if we did go camping in August with them, her baby and her two dogs. So that's the plan! My mam has always claimed that she would like to go camping but would probably moan to much if the weather is rubbish (which i will probably join her in doing!) but because her friend is going it would be really funny which I'm sure it will! I'm looking forward too it as I've never done it before and you should always try something new. I'm sure my dog will love it too :)

This is me trying something new - I hope the weather is good and even if it is, my wellies are definitely coming with me! Have you been camping before? Was it good fun?

(I wish I was relaxing here)

(2) At The Moment I'm Loving...

That it is March!

Firstly, I can't believe how fast the last two months have gone over! Is it just me or have they flown by? I love when it's this time of year because Winter is literally over, Spring is poking its pretty little head around the corner and it's nearly time to stop wearing those winter coats and scarfs.

Today was really sunny even though it was a tad chilly this morning but when I came home from school at half three, I was able to wear my thin coat and my scarf not my normal thickish coat to walk my dog. Wooo! Another thing that I'm loving about this month is that it is light when I wake up in the morning and that it is still light now. My alarm goes off at 7am for school and it was light outside this morning which is great because if you love sleep and lie-ins as much as me, these light mornings are so helpful when trying to get up. Also, it's 6pm while I write this and it is just starting to get dark. My last exam until May and June was done today as well so I'm happy about that. Smiling right now!

What do you love about March?

P.S. I've just started getting into the swing of reading Wuthering Heights and I really like it so far. Just to say it may be up in my sidebar for a while!

Summing It Up:

For a weeks half term off, I've actually done something most days this week which I was really pleased about. It started with Thursday night going to see Never Let Me Go at the cinema which I mentioned in a previous post and then going for a meal with my family for my grandma's birthday on Sunday. On Tuesday I went bowling with my mam and my twin brothers Ben and Daniel who are six and a half. And guess what?! My six year old brother Daniel beat me and I came second, I couldn't believe it and he wasn't even using the ramp thing.

On Wednesday I went to the cinema again to see Paul with my friend. It was hilarious! I was really looking forward to seeing it because the trailer is so funny - and so was the film. Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are great together and the alien Paul was equally hilarious. I was sitting next to a boy on the other side of my seat who was about the same age as me or maybe a year older or so at seventeen and in parts his laugh was funnier than the part he was actually laughing at. My and my friend were in hysterics half way through the film, partly because of the funny scene and the other part because of his laugh next to me. It didn't help that he wasn't even that fit hehe. If you haven't seen it you must!

Yesterday my mam's friend came up with her baby Harry again and he is just so cute! And, I got a hold except he would only sleep if you walked him about, not if you were sitting. You would stand for a while then sit down but as soon as you sat down he would know and begin to cry again :). He's gorgeous. Then I looked after my twin brothers for an hour or so while my mam went to the fortune teller with her friend and when she came back she said it was unreal. In the future when I've had more experiences in my life I want to go and see a fortune teller so I've added this to my bucket list. The fortune teller was apparently really accurate and mentioned me and all the family, including that my mams nana is looking after all of us and our old dog is with her. (I nearly cried!)

(I really like outfits similar to this at the minute)

Today I went shopping with my mam and we had a shop about and a browse and I got a new cardigan. I know it's nearly summer but you can't go wrong with a knitted cardigan. I've just got back from a lovely meal with my parents, so overall I've had a pretty good week. I've also got most of my work done for school except for my English Poetry exam question and revision for an exam I have on Tuesday. It's only a re-sit though so I'm not too bothered about it.

I love this colour at the minute, I really fancy buying nail polish in a similar shade:

Something I realised a few weeks ago:

Hope you have had a good week and have a great weekend. What have you been up to?

Saturday, 12 February 2011

Hello Sun!

Hiya. Hope everyone has had a great saturday, I went shopping with my mam and ended up with some really nice purple pumps and a scarf from Dorothy Perkins. I know winter is nearly over but I'm sure a scarf will come in handy and it's really nice too! Have you been up to much?

It was great because the sun was actually out and it wasn't chilly like ususal. Ah, I can't wait for spring to start properly because I love when all the flowers come back out and things look pretty. I'm really looking forward to summer too - finally some warm weather will be on the cards!

Well, I just wanted to have a little update and a post away from my 30 days of truth. They're nearly finished now and I have to say I've loved writing them because it has allowed me to be honest with myself and my followers :) Anyway once they have finished, I'll be bringing back my Time to Smile posts again and they should hopefully be beginning this Wednesday. You may have also noticed I popped a I Would Love... post in the other day. I don't often post those so I'm going to try and post them a little more frequently.

Tonight I've also updated my About Me Section in the tabs above. It's mostly the same stuff but I would appreciate it if you would check this new one out. Also I've added 30 Days of Truth to the tabs at the top which will make it easier to access.

Hope you have had a great day and I'll be back to tomorrow x

30 Days of Truth - Day Twenty Seven

Day Twenty Seven - What's the best thing going for you now?...

I would say at the minute the best thing going for me is mostly everything; family, friends and school. School is really good at the minute (and that I don't say lightly.) January exams are over and although I've got a maths re-sit in March and more exams to come in May and June, the exam period is over for now.

The weather is finally looking up and today I could go shopping without a coat! It wasn't that warm but the sun was out not like yesterday when it was grey, foggy and drizzly. Spring is around the corner which means when I get more money, more shopping to be done for spring and summer time. I'm going to Paris in April, this time with my family and my friends which I can't believe is only around 2 months away. I can't wait!

And finally, I'm quite excited to leave school at the end of June. It will scary to think that after June I won't be going back to the school which I've been going to since I was 11! Really when I think about it all the major things that have happened in my life have been during those years when I've been attending that school.

30 Days of Truth - Day Seventeen

Day Seventeen - A book that you've read which has changed your views on something...

I thought this one would be easy to answer because I've read quite a few books but I wasn't sure if the books that I have read have actually changed my views on something. I suppose one book that I have read that made a view much clearer in my mind was in the book 'Picture Perfect' by Jodi Picoult. Jodi Picoult's books are all about family life, relationships and problems that can arise in our day-to-day life and I'm quite a fan of her books.

In this particular book (NO SPOILERS) she shows us that even if people have lots of money, can buy the latest cars, mansions and thousands of shoes it doesn't make them happy. I already knew that money isn't everything in life and that is why I named my blog by the name it has - because I find the simple things in life make me the happiest. Yes, I love something new and whatnot and I do agree it makes you happy. Anyway, this book reinforced my view and can show even the best life, the best marriage you can dream of has cracks deep down and that you do not need to be perfect or infact nothing/no one is perfect!

I really enjoyed this book and recommend it to fellow book readers. If you have read it or any other books by the same author let me know :)

'Whoever said money can't buy happiness, didn't know where to shop' - Gertrude Stein

Well in response to this, you clearly have never seen the film 'Confessions of a Shopoholic!' :) Have a lovely day!
