Wooahh!

I take back what I said about the colder weather starting! The sun has been out well and truly these last few days and apparently we're having a 'heatwave' ooo! This is going to sound quite bad but I wish it wasn't so damn warm! I was just starting to get into the hang of this cold weather, even buying my coat for the winter. I think the question on everyone's lips is why the lovely weather comes now, at the end of October when it should have been here in August? You can't win with British weather!

Oh, and I can't believe I forgot to tell you all my good news. Well I think it's good anyway, I was really pleased! Remember when I told you my GCSE results? well I've had three remarks since then as my grades were obviously really close to the next one up and one of these remarks was for my History. I got an A in my history, which is obviously good but with it being my favourite subject and wanting to do it at degree level, I really really wanted to get my target of an A*. And guess what.... my history remark was successful and I've now got my A* which I'm so chuffed about :D

Sixth Form

So I had my first day of Sixth Form on wednesday and I have to say three days in, that I'm really enjoying it. As most of you who have read my posts regulary will know - I'm taking the following A-Levels: History, Classics, English Lit. and Psychology. At the moment Classics is my fave - one of the teachers we have is so funny! And the other teacher is lovely. The things we've been learning are so interesting and right up my street. I'm really enjoying History too and I suppose I'll probably enjoy psychology more when I get to know the people better as none of my friends are taking this subject. I've only had one english literature lesson so far but I'm not sure I'm going to love it. I suppose it's okay but I might drop it after a year unless it starts to get better - you drop one subject for the second year.

My timetable is alright and I now have free periods. Woo! Wednesday is definitely my best day as my first lesson is at 12.30pm then I have a free and then I have tutorial and then I can go home. However, it takes about 55 mins without traffic to get there and get back. I have to get up so early and I don't get in until about 5pm each night but on a tuesday, I don't get in until 6pm because I have a lesson after school time. But it's not that bad because it's classics :D

SONG THAT I LOVE RIGHT NOW: Will Young - Jealousy

Hehe, these images are great. They crack me up :) Like?

Friday's 'Bonding' Day

I actually lived through it and really enjoyed it! Yes I know and I'm not pulling your leg. The activites, all with our form class, included outdoor ones (I hate doing sport!) creative ones (I am not creative at all) along with many others. It's actually hard to explain because it was probably 'had to be there' kind of thing and we did loads. I was bloody knackered by the end of the day! I set my alarm for 6.40am, got the bus at 7.40am (it takes 50 mins to get to the sixth form) and then planned to get the bus back at 4.05pm but the bus was 20 minutes late and I didn't get back home until after five!!

This is the shape our bonding day took:

- Writing where we wanted to be in 10 years time

- Joining groups with people you didn't know to make balloon chairs (trust me it didn't go that well haha but was really funny)

- break

- outdoor activities consisting of standing in a circle and holding hands with everyone whilst trying to get a hoop to the next person, so you had to step in the hoop, shimmy it up your body, then get it over your head to the next person while still holding hands: we had to do it like 10 times but I was successful each time, thank god!

- dinner (well lunch but I call it dinner)

- quick little assembly

- getting photos took for our ID cards: mine looked terrible :(

- getting put into groups with people you didn't know and making two halloween outfits out of newspaper for a boy and a girl: our boy who was an Egyptian mummy won but our girl who was a really good witch totally should have won!

They were all stupid 'bonding' activities with the form class but they did make us bond. I talked to loads of new people and hopefully we'll actually be established friends in the near future :) It was really fun despite me not looking forward to it all. We start back on Tuesday and I don't know whether I'm nervous or excited - both I think! We've bonded with our form class and know people but on tuesday I probably won't know anyone in my classes as there are hundreds of new students this year :/

I'll let you know about it on the first day back if I'm not too tired to post when I come in! :)

Enrolment

It was finally time for my enrolment day today and me and two friends went in together as we're in the same class and also had the same time. We signed some forms and our A-Level choices were finally confirmed and we get our timetables next Tuesday. I love getting timetables - don't ask why, I'm a freak. My choices are still the same as last time, which I want to do: English Lit, Classics, History and Psychology.

We also found out today that we have a 'bonding' day on Friday, which I'm not looking that forward to. A) The early mornings and early buses will start b) these bonding days include activities such as wheelbarrow races! Not really my cup of tea, but will probably be fun even though I'm dreading making a complete fool out of myself. Then finally next Tuesday we actually start. I'm really looking forward to actually starting after have like ten weeks off!

The Results Are In!

It was really surreal going up to the school at 10am and meeting with friends to collect our GCSE results. After two years of exams, coursework, resits, homework and more bloody exams, it's finally, finally over! I'd like to share with you all my results - haha aghhh I can't believe I finally have GCSE exam results. So, my CV is updated and I must must find a job! Anyway, all I have to do now is wait for sixth form to start!

Dun dun dunnnn.....

1 A*
7 A's
2 B's
2 C's

However my C's were probably in the least important subjects for what I want to do which are BTEC Textiles (so technically a Pass) and Citizenship. I'm proper chuffed! I'm off to watch a DVD in bed because getting up early has tired me out and I've just got back from Frankie & Benny's with my friends so I'm pretty much knackered!

Finito Baby!

The time has come and I'm really happy!  The last time I'll ever get the 'Scholors' bus to school, the last time I'll ever wear my uniform, the last time I'll ever sit a GCSE in that exam hall! Woo, you may have guessed but I'm finally free as I had my last exam today. It was a chemistry resit so say no more. Just another reminder to myself - Prom is on Thursday :) Ahh, I'm buzzing that my exams are finished!

I wish I was doing something exciting this summer, especially because we have ten weeks off until I start sixth form. I really want to make this summer count but all I have to look forward is camping in August. Can't wait to see how that turns out. Me and my mam must be mad to agree to go but I'm sure it will be fun as the rest of my family is going and her friend, partner and baby. Not forgetting my cocker spaniel and my mam's friends two springer spaniels.

I'm not really sure what else to write today so I'm going to love you and leave you :) Have a lovely day!

Two To Go

Yep, here's another post about exams but it's just a quicky. Two more to go: Geography tomorrow and Chemistry next Tuesday then Prom on the 30th June. I can't wait until these exams are over, I can get rid of books and revision materials I no longer need and never put on my uniform again. Literally, I'll be free!

Everything's ready for prom - except the tan! But with this rubbish British weather it will most definitely be a fake one - nothing orange though! I can't wait to show you photos from the day later next week :)

I Could Get Used To This

As I am on study leave at school, I only have to go in for revision classes and exams. So, thankfully I've already got three exams out of the way in the last two days and I have another on Friday. Then only five more to go! I was quite worried about these exams today but I think they've gone okay and I hope everything pays off!

The past two days, me and my friends have been going out for our lunch instead of staying in as we used to do. It's great, we're actually free! We still have to wear our uniform but I'm not too bothered about that. Yesterday, I went in at 9 and had one hour of maths revision, then we went out at ten and then came back in at 11.20 until 12.20 for another revision class before lunch. Our exam was at 1pm but as soon as it was finished we could go home. It is so much better not having to go to another lesson straight after an exam and being able to enter and leave the school as we like.

Tomorrow I'm going in from 9-11 for revision and then I have the afternoon off, I'm off on Thursday and then I'm only in for around an hour and a half on Friday morning for my exam then I have the rest of Friday off. Bliss! What are you up to this week?

Friday, 3 June 2011

Wow.

I know I probably say this every month but I still can't believe how quick this year is going over. Are the days getting shorter, the months getting shorter and the years getting shorter? It's June already and we're halfway through 2011. Really so much has happened in this year like leaving school and hopefully there so many more amazing memories to come.

Last Month
- Started my final exams
- Went to Radio 1's Big Weekend
- Leavers day and night

This Month
- The last of my final exams
- Only going to school for revision and exams
- Prom

I really can't wait until the last of my exams are over as it's Prom time! I'm starting to get really excited. I love getting dressed up and I'm sure it will be a night to remember as it will be the last proper time I spend time with my year group. Obviously I'm pleased I won't be seeing certain people again but upset that I won't be seeing some people I get on well with again.

Could you name some things that you really don't like?

I got this question after I did my Q&A session but I'm really glad I did. I don't often write about things that I don't like and I'll tell you there are a lot. There are the obvious answers for me like creepy crawlies, not having money, certain people haha but I'm going to elaborate on something else. This is my final month of exams and really I should be sitting down, swotting all the time trying to remember and learn everything for the exams. However, unlike all the months when I've had exams over the past two years (my GCSE's are modular) I'm not. I'll start my revision then get distracted by the least bit thing and I hate it! I really need my A/A*'s in these exams and I know that, but why can't I sit down and revise?! I can turn my TV, phone and laptop off and put them out of arm's reach but I can still find something to distract myself with in my room or any room for that matter.

I am actually stressed and worried about not being stressed. So, after this post I'm hopefully going to get some history revision done. I hope for my results and my benefit I do! And, if my answer for this question is not clear yet - I really don't like the fact that I know I have to revise a lot but I'm getting distracted so much I'm not doing any! :/

Weekend Musings

Yesterday, me and my friend Amie went to see Pirates of the Caribbean 4: On Stranger Tides. Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow was not a disappointment. He was his usual eccentric, funny self and the film was great. I'm a big fan of the POTC films and so I was really looking forward to the film. I really recommend it - and it was in 3D too!

Today, I got my shoes and my bag for Prom. My dress is red, which I got last week, so my shoes are red too. I don't feel such a smally in them as they have quite a big heel! Let's hope I can last the night in them. All I have to get now is the rest of my jewellery and get the fake tan on! I'm not going for the orange look but just a slight summer tan so I don't look so white! My mam is also trying to book a hair appointment for me so things are looking up.

Now, I'm off to do some much needed revision for my English Literature and Physics exams which I have on Tuesday and Wednesday. To be quite honest I'm a bit worried about them as I feel really under prepared even though I have already done quite a lot of work on them. I think a few past papers are in need. Fingers crossed, I'll be fine!

I've Realised....

... That I am a bit of a Blogger Binger. Confused? I'll explain.

I've noticed that I go through phases of blogging all the time and then not blogging for days. For example, this week I posted on Monday and now this post is on Friday. I like to blog more! But I just don't have any ideas/ inspiration at the moment - as it's all exams, revision, exams, revision. Aghh! Then, when I did my recent 15 day challenge, I blogged every day and then had loads of posts after, which I had decided to do whilst completing the challenge. Therefore, in my eyes I am a blogger binger. (pronounced binge but with an r)

I would post about my daily musings, but to be quite honest, they're not that interesting - it's all school, exams, revision, school, exams - get where I'm coming from yet? I'm sitting my final GCSE's in May and June and the stressful thing is - I'm stressed about NOT being stressed.

Anyway, this is my little rant for today. I've noticed I don't talk that negatively on my blog that much as it's all about being positive and not letting things get to you, right? Or else I would be posting some pretty boring stuff and you would be sick and tired of the rants and things that annoy me, haha. I am off to see Pirates of the Caribbean tomorrow - so a post idea here? I think so. Even though this is off topic - in regards to the book I'm reading in the sidebar, things have been haltered from getting into the book due to revision. I hope to be able to finish it soon but I'm finding it quite hard to get stuck into it but I'll give it al little more time :)

Hopefully, I'll be posting normally again next week (I like to post at least four times a week) and I hope you all have a great weekend. What are you all up to?

It's As Easy As 1 2 3

Around a week ago Taylor at Anticipation posted some numbers of how long it was until certain things happened. I think this is a great way to put things into perspective and to see how some things are so close it's exciting and how some are scarily close. Aghh!

1 year (well in five days) since my first ever blog post
4 days until Radio 1's Big Weekend
5 days until my first exam
12 days (and counting) until I come off my school timetable and after a week, I only go back to school for revison and my exams
15 weeks until I get my GCSE results (but I'm not even going to think about this one because I haven't even done any yet!)
16 exams I have to take during May and July
48 days until my last GCSE exam - ever!
50 days until Prom (and guess who still doesn't have a dress yet?!)

Wohhh! Hold On A Sec!

Where has the time gone? On Thursday I break up for my Easter Holidays for 2 weeks & 2 Days! and I can't believe that when I get back to school it will be May. I just can't believe that these final exams have came around so fast. My first exams begin in the second or third week of May and last up until the end of June. It doesn't really help that I'm being put in for loads of resits in some module exams as I got an A but I am targetted an A*. (Science teachers, I'm talking to you!!)

Aghh, everything is coming around so quickly. So many new exams, so many resits and so many revision sessions after school to attend. Never mind all the revision I need to do at home because to be quite honest I don't know half of the stuff I need to know off by heart for my upcoming exams.

I'm writing this post now from a break on improving my Science Data Analysis coursework that I did last year in year 10 to get one more mark. I am so close to an A* overall for my Core Science GCSE so I'm trying to push myself for it. But I get the feeling that if I don't start revising now, everything will get on top of me - hence my goals for April - REVISE!

Day 15 of 15 -

Day 15 - In this past month what have I learnt...

  • That I need to start revising now for my exams in May and June or I am going to fail!

  • That the sunshine really makes you feel a lot better. The warm weather and the bright sun on your back makes the days go quicker and doesn't make school as depressing as you can sit outside at break time and lunch time. Getting out of bed in the morning with the sun beaming through my blinds makes the impossible job of trying to wake myself up when the alarm goes off a lot easier.
  • That there are always going to be those people out there in life that ain't going to like you whatever you say or do!

      Nearing the End

As I am in my last year of secondary school - year 11 - I'll be leaving at the end of June after my final exams and then going off to do a-levels at sixth form in September. Today we had our school photos taken, one individually and then one of the whole year group. At my school normally school photos are only taken in year 7, 9 and 11 - one individually and one of the form class. As it's our last year we had a year group and there's quite a lot of us so it was quite a squeeze!

One of my friends, Amie, pointed out today that this would be the last time we would ever get school photos taken. (As you don't get them done in sixth for) This was really weird to think of, as the things that we are doing now we'll never experience them again. It's quite well known among my friends that I cannot wait to leave school and just be a little more free but even I will admit it is weird and scary in a way to think that there are some things we'll never do again once we leave school.

It will be the end of a long five years at secondary school where most of the 'big' or should I say singificant things have happened in my life. Becoming a teenager at 13, becoming 16, ups and downs etc. In a way I think it will be quite bittersweet. Sad that it could be the last time I see quite a lot of people (but happy I won't see others!) and exciting that it'll be the next step in my life and really when at sixth form it's during the time when you become a proper adult and things get more serious in some ways but not others. It's a funny old life!

P.S. I would like to mention that yesterday and today the weather has been really good! It's finally warm where I live and I could walk the dog (even with the sun behind the clouds) with my sleeves rolled up. Spring has finally arrived! - I'll see you tomorrow for another time to smile post!

      Couldn't Say It Better Myself!

I'm sick of people thinking I'm a swot, nerd whatever you want to call it and when someone said the other week 'I loved school' I just thought to myself 'hold on a sec you know nothing about me and the truth is I dislike school and I can't wait to go to sixth form!' But he wouldn't know that because he knows nothing about me and he is quite frankly a dick! I hate swearing on my blog but there is no other way to describe him. I do my work, get my grades and will succeed in doing something I want to, probably unike him and other people who obviously think along the same lines about me.

Anyway I found this over at Jen's blog and well frankly I felt like I could really relate to it and thought I would post it on here:

      Friday Musings

My school broke up earlier for half term, hence the reason I'm off school today until the 28th of February. I've been waiting ages for a week off because I really needed a lie-in! Yesterday I went to the cinema with my friend and we seen 'Never Let Me Go' which I was really looking forward to watching. As I've read the book around a week ago, it was strange seeing the story on the big screen, which parts of the book they missed out and the way they interpreted others.

When I read the book, I thought it was good but that it wasn't brilliant. As I felt it didn't have that extra something which makes a book seem excellent and that you want to re-read it. Don't get my wrong, I enjoyed the book so therefore I recommend it for someone to read especially if you have the seen film because I think that some parts of the book should have been included in the film.

Today, I thought that I would catch up on programmes that I have missed during the week and now I'm off to take the dog out on a walk. So fun, fun, fun eh? I suppose it's been quite relaxing just sitting there watching tele, just doing nothing! Anyway it's been better than having a day at school especially because I have an extra week off. School is coming close evening quicker than I thought as by the time I go back it will be March and we leave in the last week of May but go back into school for the final exams in June. Scary stuff!

What have you been up to do?

30 Days of Truth - Day Twenty Seven

Day Twenty Seven - What's the best thing going for you now?...

I would say at the minute the best thing going for me is mostly everything; family, friends and school. School is really good at the minute (and that I don't say lightly.) January exams are over and although I've got a maths re-sit in March and more exams to come in May and June, the exam period is over for now.

The weather is finally looking up and today I could go shopping without a coat! It wasn't that warm but the sun was out not like yesterday when it was grey, foggy and drizzly. Spring is around the corner which means when I get more money, more shopping to be done for spring and summer time. I'm going to Paris in April, this time with my family and my friends which I can't believe is only around 2 months away. I can't wait!

And finally, I'm quite excited to leave school at the end of June. It will scary to think that after June I won't be going back to the school which I've been going to since I was 11! Really when I think about it all the major things that have happened in my life have been during those years when I've been attending that school.

      Not Again!

Sorry for the lack of posts recently - I would love to say it's because i've been busy busy busy without a moment to think but I can't because I haven't. I'm supposed to be busy with revision aas I have a lot of exams starting to peak their horrible heads around the corner but to be quite honest I'm not sure what I've been doing as I haven't even opened up my revision guides! So today I must must must start some and I'm going to make sure that I at least do some Chemistry and History plus I might catch up on my tele programmes from last Friday.

So as I look out of my window I see snow on the ground - hence my post title today. I do love snow but by now I must say I'm pretty sick of it. It started where I live last November ans started to properly leave at the end of December but now its back! In January snow no longer means: time off school, near to Christmas and ooo its snowing lets go and have a snowball fight! It now means: trying to dodge snowballs at school, nothing to look really forward to (no Xmas) and the horrible slush stuff after the snow has melted! :( I just want summer to start!

I'm hopefully going to be posting a few more times this week but my exams begin this week so maybe I won't. But definitely after the end of January - I will be back regulary with hopefully a new feature. I've realised I've been neglecting my I would love posts so I hope to be posting some more of them but with a little difference. And, finally I would like to thank my new followers! - I'm glad to have reached into the thirties, that may not seem many but it means loads to me! So thank you and keep on commenting because I love when you guys do :) x
