How are you welcoming in 2012?

I never do anything for New Year and I really wish I did. One good thing about 2012: I'll be 18 in December so it'll be off to town hopefully! I think I'm going to do my review of 2011 tomorrow. Oops should have been in 2011 :/ Anyway have a good one! :)

Christmas doesn't feel the same without snow :S

I'm so used to there being snow on the ground or sometimes there is the occasional snowflake that comes down. But nope not this year. It feels really weird that Christmas day is tomorrow when the weather is not even that cold. The weather is completely messed up at the minute - it wasn't even that hot in August, freezing in October and November and now not that cold on Christmas Eve.  Then there's some countries that never ever have snow because it's summer for them - yep Australia I'm talking to you. I can't even imagine that. It being summer when Christmas is so weird for me. Okay, I'm going to stop with the strangeness element.

Anyway, I want to wish you all a happy happy Christmas and hope Santa brings all the things you wished for ;) Here's a little Christmas song to get you more in the mood - hope it works for me!

The Run Up To Christmas

I've been busy busy busy this week, which is surprising. I broke up from sixth form on Friday, woo! But I've got to go back on January 3rd, which is pretty crap. I was finally 17 on Tuesday :D I had my first driving lesson ever :S I didn't feel stressed or nervous because I didn't really know what to expect apart from being in the hot seat. I wasn't terrible but I'm looking forward to doing my next lesson.

I've actually just booked my theory test for January. It's really soon but the test is changing for the worse at the end of January, so my driving instructor said it would be best to do it now. The Highway Code that I ordered the other day and it came today - seriously it's so boring! and, I'm sick of reading it already but I'm going to revise, revise, revise so hopefully I don't have to resit a harder test :/

Yesterday, me and my friends went to see Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows. It's actually really good! I loved the first one and this one is a great sequel. I'm shit at reviews so I'm not going to even try and do one and I don't want to give away any spoilers. And, my meal at Frankie & Benny's was very yummy :P

I can't believe it's Christmas eve in two days. Woahh! Are you's excited for Christmas? This year has flown over but I'm starting to look forward to the upcoming festive days a lot more. Shame there is no snow at the minute. Having it in December makes me feel really christmassy but I hate it in January. 'Cos to be quite honest January is the most depressing month ever!

Tuesday 20 December 2011

It's My Birthday! :D

I'm 17 today!!!!

I've got a two hour driving lesson in 15 minutes - God help me! I'm going to an Italian's tonight with my family. Then tomorrow I'm off to see Sherlock Holmes 2 and go to Frankie & Benny's with my friends. I'll let you know how it all goes soon! :)

Oopsy Daisy

I feel pretty shocking not posting for ageesss and also not reading any posts. So I'm reading all of the posts I've missed from my fave blogs now. The truth is I have no idea what to post about any more. My life pretty much revolves around sixth form, homework, revision for tests, an hour long bus journey to college and another hour back and catching up on TV programmes. So, before I leave you once again, here's Little Mix's new single after they won the X Factor on Sunday night. I'm so pleased they won, and finally a group won! I love the song too. I have a post I've been meaning to do for ages and still haven't got round to doing it. I promise I'll have a few more proper ones very soon as I break up for the xmas holidays on Friday! :D

Thursday 1 December 2011

Ist of...

It's December 1st - Christ, (no pun intended) where has this year gone? It has went so much quicker than last year and that pretty much zoomed by. This year has been a pretty big year for me, in loads of different ways and I am 17 this month! Woo! Anyway this day means:

* 1st door of advent calendar :D
* Xmas decorations go up
* Countdown to my birthday starts - 19 days to go! (even though I'm not doing anything special)
* Countdown to Christmas day starts - 24 days to go!

So in celebration of this little day, I'm doing 1st place (of everything I can think of at the moment) of things for the festive period. Join in too on your blog or in the comments below. I would love to see what you choose :)

Christmas song.... Band Aid - Do They Know It's Christmas
This song has such a lovely meaning to it and is definitely one of my top favourites. Some people don't like the modern one but I do as well!

Christmas advert.... Coca Cola
This may be an old advert but it never gets old for me. Every single year I've loved it. And, the truth is when this first comes on the TV you know it's nearly Christmas.

Chocolate.... Terry's Chocolate Orange
This is seriously one of the best types of chocolate to eat year round but especially at Christmas time!
Favourite board game.... frustration
This was quite hard but I love this game. I love a game of monoploy too though!
Christmas film.... The Snowman + The Grinch
I absolutely adore these films. I used to watch The Snowman year round when I went to my grandmas and Walking In The Air (also another fave song) would send me to sleep! So that's why I have the song by Aled Jones above. This film is so good and I think it's amazing how it has no words. And, The Grinch is just brilliant :)

Favourite part of xmas day.... Christmas dinner (well it's lunch but I call it dinner :D)
It's a Sunday dinner with extra food - and an extra twist: you get to pull crackers woo!

Favourite drink.... Bucks Fizz
I love this with my christmas dinner. Sorry but I ain't a fan of baileys :(
Can you think of any other festive things? Let me know, and I'll do them too :P

Destination Love: Egypt

I would love to go to Egypt mainly for the ancient history; I absolutely loved learning about the Egyptians in primary school! The one thing that puts me off: the heat. I don't think I'll be able to bear it :( Anyway, I think it's amazing how some of these 'ancient wonders' have lasted so many centuries:
The Pyraminds of Giza

The Sphinx

Cairo

Egyptian Museum in Cairo

Abu Simbel

Luxor Temple

Taking a felucca on the Nile

A Camel Ride
Temples of Karnak

Valley of the Kings

What? Me? Actually driving a car?

A selection if students from my sixth form were chosen to get a free mini driving lesson today as we always turn up to lessons, have great attendance, good effort blahdy blah you get what I mean. There was ten of us all together and there was two students per instructor and car. It was really weird and it wasn't a proper, proper lesson as it was only on a basketball court 'cos you need a provisional license to drive when you're off the road and you need to be 17 over here. It was actually really good! I didn't crash or stall! Hooray me!! :)

It's funny actually as my mam has booked a two hour lesson on my birthday next month and booked some more hours for me with a different company and then I just need to fit them around me. I'm really pleased I've got a bit of practise in so I don't look like a total failure for the first time with my new instructor. See kids should take note, there are perks if you attend school and do all your work! hehe :D

Saturday 19 November 2011

In awe? I am.

God, I love FATM (Florence and the Machine) She performed this last sunday on X Factor over here. Her voice is seriously amazing!!

Friday 18 November 2011

Is It Acceptable?

Okay so guys, is it acceptable to start listening to Christmas songs yet? It might seem like a silly question but I don't want to start to early right? The reason I ask is because I wrapped up my first lot of xmas presents for friends and family and whilst my iPod was on shuffle Mariah Carey's All I Want For Christmas came on. Instead of skipping Christmas songs which I've done all year I didn't! I was feeling festive and wanted a little sing song to such a well known crimbo song.

But should I allow myself to start listening to them more regularly and not skip them. Or should I just wait for December or until it least starts snowing (cos it probably will at this end of this month like last year) Are you getting ready for Christmas yet ad been present shopping yet? I was pretty ruthless the other night and got over half of the presents I was going to get. Go me!

Friday 11 November 2011

A Two Minute Silence

There is something that I find so special about Rememberence Day. This thing is that at 11 o'clock on the 11th of November of each year the majority of the people in the UK will all be silent for up to two minutes. How amazing is that?!

November & A Little Update

Hi everyone, I feel like I have been neglecting this blog so much recently! I was supposed to do a post  few days ago but I completely forgot - sorry! I have so many of my favourite blogs to catch up on too! It's November, wow. Today was bloody freezing, Jack Frost was out in force this morning whilst I was waiting for the bus at 7.15 am. Things I'm looking forward to this month:

- Countdown to Christmas starts!
- Breaking Dawn Part 1 on the 18th!
- To download Florence and the Machine's new album!
- Christmas shopping starting!
- Wrapping up warm!
- Hot chocolate and films in bed!

On Thursday, my old school (before sixth form) is holding an award ceremony for our year. I think we get our certificates for our GCSE's but I'm not totally sure but also some people have been selected for specific awards for certain subjects. I'm getting one for history, which I'm proper chuffed about as that is my favourite subject and the only one I woud be bothered about getting! I'll give you an update about what happens asap.

How are you all?

Hakuna Matata

I've never been completely sure if I've ever seen The Lion King when I was a younger. It was either, I've never seen it or I've only seen small parts of it before. After just watching the whole film about 10 minutes ago, I can say it was the latter. But how have I never seen Mufasa's death before - I've heard that it was really sad but I didn't think it would be that sad, my eyes were tear filled!

This clip is probably one of my favourites out of the whole film. Firstly, how cute is the young Simba and secondly, this is such a great philosophy. Shame I'll never be able to stick to it fully! I'm now going to try and go on a spree of watching all the Disney Classics that I've never seen before between now and Christmas. Hopefully! I've seen quite a lot of them - mainly the Princess ones but a few of the others as well! I'm ashamed to say that I've never seen Bambi or The Jungle Book all the way through! I might have seen The Jungle Book all the wa through when I was younger but I can't remember all of it now so them two are definitely near the top of my list.

- As it is half term and even though I have piles of work to do (I'm off to do two pieces for Classics after this) I'm going to try and get a couple more posts done this week. It'll be my only chance to post more than twice a week as when I go back to sixth form I'll be back down to work. Anyway, how are you all??

'You're An Angel' Award

This lovely award is from Hazel, Pablo's Angel. She even gave me a little nickname and wrote a little comment about each person she gave an award too. This is so sweet, so thank you again. So, sharing it all with you:

"Little Miss Sunshine"
You are such a sweet and lovely girl. I adore reading your blog and finding out what you've been up to throughout the week. Everything feels very girly and adorable on your blog which makes me love it even more!

On a negative note: I'm so annoyed right now, apart from this award :), I've just got rid of a stinkin' cold I've had for about two week and guess what I'm greeted with this morning, which has got worse during the day: a huge coldsore on my chin!! yes, my chin! I'm so not happy - I normally get them on the edge of my mouth/lip (you know where I mean, right?) but oh no, it has to be smack down in the middle of my chin! And, did I mention it's huge?

Friday 14 October 2011

Another Week,

Another week has gone by; cold, coat-wearing weather, two job applications, a horrible cold affecting my nose, lots of sniffing during silent lessons, lots of psychology practise exam questions, three essays for homework = and I'm pretty much shattered! After next week it's half term for one week, which means SLEEP, SLEEP, SLEEP.

I have some exciting news though! Remember, this destination love where I told you all about the places I want to go in Greece someday well I could be possibly seeing many of these places next July! For AS Classics students, we get to go to Greece next year for a week. I handed in the deposit yesterday - and it was lucky because there were only five out of the thirty five places left. I'm really excited! When we find out the itinerary, I'll let you guys all know :)

I'm sorry it's been a week since I last posted but I have a feeling that's the way things will probably be panning out for the foreseeable future as I am always so god damn busy on a night time with so much work to do! I know I complain about this regularly but honestly I do enjoy sixth form! But don't unfollow me if you think I have stopped blogging, I haven't. Just remember - 'all good things come to those who wait' :D

NB: (not really sure what that actually stands for but never mind)
-GOSSIP GIRL starts next week over here. Excited much! Er, yes of course :)
- Oh and I'm obsessed with Bruno Mars - It Will Rain. I know Breaking Dawn isn't out for another five weeks yet but I can't wait.
- I know what you's are all thinking, but I do have a life - honest!

Friday 7 October 2011

It Will Rain

The posts about Breaking Dawn are about to start. Yes, I am a fan - don't judge or if you want to, you know where you can go!  I am also a huge fan of Harry Potter and just for the record, there is no reason why someone can't love both. For starters, they are completely and utterly different from one another. Anyway, since that is cleared up :) remember when I told you about Bruno Mars doing the soundrack for the film, It Will Rain - well here it is!!

What do you think? I really like it, Bruno Mars has such a great voice. And, even more exciting - me and my friend have booked tickets for the opening night! I know, over a month in advance but it is possibly my favourite book out of all of them (that's quite hard to say because the 1st and 3rd book come in so close behind!) and the screens for all night are so full already. Anyone else looking forward to the release?

Saturday 1 October 2011

October, October

The weather is really warm again today! But the funny thing is forecasters have been predicting snow for the end of October in certain parts of the UK. Hmm... WHAT IS GOING ON? with the weather these days :/  They also say it's going to be worse than last year - and I can say that won't be so good especially having to get the buses - they will be like half an hour up to an hour late, great! And, it takes about an hour to get to my sixth form to start with. I believe THE BIG FREEZE again!

A positive I was looking forward to October was hopefully being able to have access to Pottermore. I missed the early registration and have been waiting for this month to come round so the other day I went on the website and find out that it won't be happening until the end of October beginning of November. Bummer! I'm dying to know what it's all about, if anyone has had early access - please comment below and tell me some of the secrets :)

I love when Autumn comes around - mainly due to the colours of the leaves. When you see the leaves changing to reds and oranges, blowing off and the crunching beneath your feet. I love it! I've been listening loads to Anastacia's 2004 album and Dido's - Life for Rent album. I'm such big fans and recently decided to rip my CD's and put them on my iPod. They are on constant replay. I can't wait for these to come back in the limelight. Anastacia has another album going to be released in 2012 (I think) but I'm not sure about Dido. Another point on music - I'm really looking forward to Coldplay, Snow Patrol and Florence and The Machine's new albums to be released! Anyone else a fan of these?

Friday 30 September 2011

Wooahh!

I take back what I said about the colder weather starting! The sun has been out well and truly these last few days and apparently we're having a 'heatwave' ooo! This is going to sound quite bad but I wish it wasn't so damn warm! I was just starting to get into the hang of this cold weather, even buying my coat for the winter. I think the question on everyone's lips is why the lovely weather comes now, at the end of October when it should have been here in August? You can't win with British weather!

Oh, and I can't believe I forgot to tell you all my good news. Well I think it's good anyway, I was really pleased! Remember when I told you my GCSE results? well I've had three remarks since then as my grades were obviously really close to the next one up and one of these remarks was for my History. I got an A in my history, which is obviously good but with it being my favourite subject and wanting to do it at degree level, I really really wanted to get my target of an A*. And guess what.... my history remark was successful and I've now got my A* which I'm so chuffed about :D

Notes

1. Hello everyone! I have a good reason for being absent for nearly a week - honestly. Trust me when I say A-Levels come with a lot of work, I mean it. Every night I've had work to do hence not being able to post regulary. I'm really enjoying sixth form but not really the amount of work I've had in the first two weeks (and the work load is bound to get heavier) but the early mornings and not getting in until later.

2. It's nearly the end of September and I can feel October's weather already. The mornings are freezing and I've been trying to put off wearing my new 'winter' coat as I'll probably be wearing it until Feburary time - maybe even the beginning of March! Apparently, this winter will be worst than last years. Well if it is, god help us! It started snowing heavily in November in 2010.

3. I watched the first lot of auditions of X Factor USA auditions the other day and it was exactly the same as the UK version just with American accents! So I probably won't watch any more of them as I'm more interested in the UK version at the minute. I was really surprised that people 12 years and up could audition for the USA one. For me, I think that's far too young, yes some of the young ones had AMAZING voices but if it's anything like the UK version; media scrutiny all the time, 10+ weeks of live shows and they will get a $5 million recording contract - I think it's all way too much for a head on little shoulders to deal with.

4. I've only finally got round to downloading the full of Bruno Mars album. Yes - tut tut me! Apart from the ones he has already released, my two new favourites are 'Talking To The Moon' and 'Count On Me' Give them a listen, they are really good! And, he's doing the soundtrack for Breaking Dawn Part 1 called 'It Will Rain' I can't wait to hear it and see the film!!

5. Does anyone watch Downton Abbey? I do and I'm so pleased it's back for it's second series. I think this is going to be a good one being during the second world war and all. Good things ahead I think!

6. And finally, I'm going to leave you with this lovely face :)
-i.e. the face of Cam Gigandet

Destination Love: Greece

I have actually been to Greece before: Corfu and Halkidiki, which were two of my favourite holidays. However, I would love to visit the more 'ancient' parts of Greece. Taking Classics at A-Level has helped expand (is that the right word? :/ ) my love of Greek mythology. Recently, Greece hasn't been a top place for people to go - the fighting in the capital Athens and of course their financial problems at the moment but too be quite honest this hasn't put me off. I'm hoping that my sixth form will still do it's trip to Greece next year (for Classics) Let's hope so! I find the Greeks so friendly, I love how most of the buildings are whitewashed and I think the Agean Sea is beautiful. So these are some of the places I would love to visit:

The Acropolis and the Parthenon, Athens

Athens

The National Archaeological Museum, Athens

Temple of Poseidon, Cape Sounion

Delphi

Olympia

Temple of Apollo, Delphi

 Crete

Temple of Athena Nike, Athens

And on a slightly different side, I would love to go to Malia in Crete and/or Zante!

Sixth Form

So I had my first day of Sixth Form on wednesday and I have to say three days in, that I'm really enjoying it. As most of you who have read my posts regulary will know - I'm taking the following A-Levels: History, Classics, English Lit. and Psychology. At the moment Classics is my fave - one of the teachers we have is so funny! And the other teacher is lovely. The things we've been learning are so interesting and right up my street. I'm really enjoying History too and I suppose I'll probably enjoy psychology more when I get to know the people better as none of my friends are taking this subject. I've only had one english literature lesson so far but I'm not sure I'm going to love it. I suppose it's okay but I might drop it after a year unless it starts to get better - you drop one subject for the second year.

My timetable is alright and I now have free periods. Woo! Wednesday is definitely my best day as my first lesson is at 12.30pm then I have a free and then I have tutorial and then I can go home. However, it takes about 55 mins without traffic to get there and get back. I have to get up so early and I don't get in until about 5pm each night but on a tuesday, I don't get in until 6pm because I have a lesson after school time. But it's not that bad because it's classics :D

SONG THAT I LOVE RIGHT NOW: Will Young - Jealousy

Hehe, these images are great. They crack me up :) Like?

Monday 12 September 2011

Meaning

I absolutely love Jessie J's - Who's Laughing Now. She is so open about being bullied when she was younger and releasing this song is so inspirational for all those who have suffered bullying in their past or present. Many  other celebrities have been bullied when they were young; members of JLS, David Tennant, Kate Winslet, Sandra Bullock, Megan Fox, Tyra Banks.... But they have 'made it' and this song shows that even if you are bullied you can still carry on and be whoever and whatever you want to be. It has such a good message and meaning unlike some songs that you hear.

P.S. Jessie J's album Who You Are is definitely worth a listen. I actually really like it and this song is one of my favourites along with a few others.

Friday's 'Bonding' Day

I actually lived through it and really enjoyed it! Yes I know and I'm not pulling your leg. The activites, all with our form class, included outdoor ones (I hate doing sport!) creative ones (I am not creative at all) along with many others. It's actually hard to explain because it was probably 'had to be there' kind of thing and we did loads. I was bloody knackered by the end of the day! I set my alarm for 6.40am, got the bus at 7.40am (it takes 50 mins to get to the sixth form) and then planned to get the bus back at 4.05pm but the bus was 20 minutes late and I didn't get back home until after five!!

This is the shape our bonding day took:

- Writing where we wanted to be in 10 years time

- Joining groups with people you didn't know to make balloon chairs (trust me it didn't go that well haha but was really funny)

- break

- outdoor activities consisting of standing in a circle and holding hands with everyone whilst trying to get a hoop to the next person, so you had to step in the hoop, shimmy it up your body, then get it over your head to the next person while still holding hands: we had to do it like 10 times but I was successful each time, thank god!

- dinner (well lunch but I call it dinner)

- quick little assembly

- getting photos took for our ID cards: mine looked terrible :(

- getting put into groups with people you didn't know and making two halloween outfits out of newspaper for a boy and a girl: our boy who was an Egyptian mummy won but our girl who was a really good witch totally should have won!

They were all stupid 'bonding' activities with the form class but they did make us bond. I talked to loads of new people and hopefully we'll actually be established friends in the near future :) It was really fun despite me not looking forward to it all. We start back on Tuesday and I don't know whether I'm nervous or excited - both I think! We've bonded with our form class and know people but on tuesday I probably won't know anyone in my classes as there are hundreds of new students this year :/

I'll let you know about it on the first day back if I'm not too tired to post when I come in! :)
