Day 4 of 15 -

Day 4 - A habit I wish I didn't have...

This one is probably a little disgusting for some people but it's a habit I wish I didn't have so I'm going to tell you. I bite my fingernails constantly. I really wish I didn't and I really wish that I could stop. My nails are therefore quite short and I really wish that they were longer so that I could paint them. If I paint them short, it just doesn't look right. I would love to have them the length above so I could paint them that lovely colour also as above :)

It's just one of those things I suppose. I'll be able to stop for a day or so but then I won't even realise that I'm biting them. I've done it since I can remember. Oh well, hopefully in the future I'll be able to stop. Anyone else share the same bad habit?

(Talk about a short but sweet post - well maybe not so sweet)

Day 3 of 15 -

Day 3 -  Short term goals for this month and why...

As I'm posting this a day before the last day of March, I'm doing my short goals for April. I actually have been looking forward to posting this one as I haven't actually done goals for the month on here before.

1) Get in some revision
Why? - I have my final exams in May and June and I want to actually do some revision (even if it a month before) so I feel more prepared for when they come around.

2) Take lots of pictures in Paris
Why? - Does this one even need a reason? I went to Paris two years ago (It only feels at least six months/ 1 year ago at least) My camera isn't the greatest but I want to take more pictures than the first time round and then post them on here!

3) Lose weight
Why? - I always feel so much better after I've lost a few pounds and with prom around the corner in June, I want to find a dress and feel good, confortable and not self concious in it.

4) Try and save up some money
Why? - This is probably unlikely as I have already dipped into my pocket money for April and with out a doubt I'll probably be off to the cinema soon and I want to buy clothes but I always feel really good when I've saved up some money.

5) Blog regulary
Why? - I blog quite regulary anyway but sometimes I can waffle or not post for a few days after I have done a challenge. However good news for my followers who read my posts more or less daily - I actually have some posts planned for the rest of this month!

Note - Aplogies again but whilst I'm doing these posts, I will be delaying my next Time to Smile posts for another two weeks so that I concentrate on the challenge until I finish it. It will be back shortly with a one off theme to that week's Time to Smile :)

Day 2 of 15 -

Day 2 - The meaning behind me blogger name...

'The Life of an Ordinary Girl' The name of my blog may not be as exciting and eye catching as some of other blogs which I have read but this title is definitely the most suitable for what I am all about. I am ordinary, average, normal.

I do 'ordinary' things - watch TV, go to the cinema, go out with friends, read, listen to music, walk my dog. I am not extravagant in any way. I went through a phase of wanting to change the name of my blog because I thought it was boring and I did for a day but I changed it back because the tital at present is me. When I changed it, I felt like this blog wasn't really mine anymore.

I changed it back and it probably won't change. I will change as a person during the time that I will have this blog but I will not change in the way I like to do things and what I like - which is doing the simple, ordinary things. Having dreams, which will hopefully come true and just enjoying life.

Day 1 of 15 -

Day 1 - A recent picture of myself and 15 interesting facts...

They may not be that interesting but here are fifteen facts about me: -

1. I have a small scar on my left eyebrow where my brother hit my head against the radiator in our old house when I was little. (I was told it was an accident but I suppose I'll never know) :)

2. When I'm bored, I sometimes think if our lives are actually real. Weird I know.

3. I always buy loads of books before I have even read all of the ones I've already got.

4. I've made some mistakes in my life but I don't regret them or I wouldn't be where I was today.

5. I have a nut allergy - peanuts, coconuts, almonds, pistachios, Brazil nuts etc. etc. (have a feeling you may have already known that one!) ;)

6. I had really bad chicken pox when I was younger and have three or four little scars on my face.

7.  I always write what I need to do on post-it notes and putting them all around my room until I've completed them.
8. I really, really want to travel literally everywhere when I'm older.

9. My middle name is Abigail.

10. I'm 17 this year!

11. Two of my favourite authors at the moment are Philippa Gregory and Dorothy Koomson.
12. I used to hate missing my TV programmes but now I'm not so bad as I can record them hehe.

13. I always sing in the car to the radio. For the record I'm a crap singer but I don't care!

14. I love it in summer when I can wear my Marc Jacobs sunnies because they are prescription glasses so I can actually see when I wear them.

15. Not so interesting but I found it really hard to think of these 15 facts :/

Okay, let's make my posts more interesting...

I've decided to do another challenge which is different from the 30 Days of Truth. I like doing challenges on blogger as I like to be able to open up, talk about personal matters which I probably wouldn't normally talk about on here and air my views but most importantly keep my posts regular. This time I've decided to do one for only fifteen days even though the challenge that I did find was thirty days long. This is the completed list if any of you wish to do the full one. These are the ones I will be completing beginning on Monday (tomorrow):

Day 1: A recent picture of myself and 15 interesting facts
Day 2: The meaning behind my Blogger name
Day 3: Short term goals for this month and why
 Day 4: A habit I wish I didn't have
Day 5: A picture of somewhere I've been to
Day 6: A picture of me and my friends
Day 7: Something I am proud of in the last few days
Day 8: A picture of me and my family
Day 9: Put your iPod on shuffle: first 10 songs they play
Day 10: Another picture of myself (baby picture!)
Day 11: Nicknames I have and why I have them
Day 12: Something I crave a lot
Day 13: What you would find in my bag
Day 14: Why I am doing this challenge
Day 15: In this past month what have I learnt

I feel like I'm going to really enjoy doing this challenge. I know that I probably shouldn't have chosen the ones that I want out of the thirty but the reason that I chose the above was mainly because a) some of the others were the same/ very similar to the last challenge I did and/or b) I have rambled about the others a lot before.

I hope you enjoy reading these and I'll be back tomorrow with Day 1!

Not So Much A Love Story

Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed reading Wuthering Heights. I know it's supposed to be one of the most famous love stories in English Literature, but it is one heck of a complex one. I understand that is a love story in some parts but in others it is downright violence.
For the record, in my opinion of course, the older Cathy (who Heathcliff loves) seems really spoilt and a bit of a bitch and I don't like Heathcliff. My friend that had already read the book before me, actually likes in Heathcliff in parts and thinks he's sweet. Fair enough, I feel sorry for him in the first part of the book when he is a child but in the second half I really do not like him as a character. Obviously I respect anyone's opinions so I would love to know what you think of Heathcliff if you have read the book.

Even though it seems that I have just 'pulled the book to pieces' I actually enjoyed it once I got into reading it and got used to the way it was written. I feel that I would need to read the book a second time to understand more about what is happening and read between the lines more. I do recommend it though to anyone who fancies a challenging book to read. I would love to see the film as well.

If you have read it, what did you think?

Nearing the End

As I am in my last year of secondary school - year 11 - I'll be leaving at the end of June after my final exams and then going off to do a-levels at sixth form in September. Today we had our school photos taken, one individually and then one of the whole year group. At my school normally school photos are only taken in year 7, 9 and 11 - one individually and one of the form class. As it's our last year we had a year group and there's quite a lot of us so it was quite a squeeze!

One of my friends, Amie, pointed out today that this would be the last time we would ever get school photos taken. (As you don't get them done in sixth for) This was really weird to think of, as the things that we are doing now we'll never experience them again. It's quite well known among my friends that I cannot wait to leave school and just be a little more free but even I will admit it is weird and scary in a way to think that there are some things we'll never do again once we leave school.

It will be the end of a long five years at secondary school where most of the 'big' or should I say singificant things have happened in my life. Becoming a teenager at 13, becoming 16, ups and downs etc. In a way I think it will be quite bittersweet. Sad that it could be the last time I see quite a lot of people (but happy I won't see others!) and exciting that it'll be the next step in my life and really when at sixth form it's during the time when you become a proper adult and things get more serious in some ways but not others. It's a funny old life!

P.S. I would like to mention that yesterday and today the weather has been really good! It's finally warm where I live and I could walk the dog (even with the sun behind the clouds) with my sleeves rolled up. Spring has finally arrived! - I'll see you tomorrow for another time to smile post!

First Day of Spring Is Tomorrow!

It's officially the first day of spring tomorrow.
On 20th March 2011.
Winter is finally over for at least the next six months and summer is just around the corner. I can't wait for Paris in April and to be able to start wearing summer clothes again. Here's some lovely pictures of Spring, which is getting me in the mood for more sunshine! Especially because today is really nice and sunny. I just feel like blasting on the summer tunes but I won't because it's only spring tomorrow!
Have a lovely weekend :)

It's Red Nose Day!

So today is Red Nose Day i.e. Comic Relief. It was non school uniform today at school and so I gave a small donation for not wearing my uniform and I also sponsered a boy a few years younger than myself to do a sponsored silence. Whether he succeeded in that I'm not sure but at least the money will go to charity regardless.

Are any of you doing anything special this weekend?

Another Award!

I was thrilled yesterday to find out that I had got another award - The Versatile Blogger Award - and as promised I'm posting the rules of recieving the award today. I love that this is the second time that I have recieved this award making this my third actual award.
Thank you Jennifer over at The Sparkling Diamond!!

The rules of the award are:

2. Share 7 things about yourself
3. Pass the award to up to 10 versatile bloggers
4. Let those bloggers know that you gave them the award

As I have already recieved this award back in November, I am doing seven different things about me and will therefore give it to different blogs than last time. My other seven facts.

Seven things about me are:
1. I will start my driving lessons in December this year - aghh scary!

2. I really want to go to University after I get my A-Levels and I want to do a history degree then become a teacher.

3. While some people hate watching the trailers at the cinema I love watching them.

The award goes to these 5 blogs: (which I have recently found and I love reading!)

Hope you are having a great day! :)

Time to Smile - #121-125

Title: Time to Smile #121-125
Weekly Post Day: Wednesday
Details: This is my weekly wednesday post which will feature five things each week which I love, make me happy or make me smile. Mostly all three! Hope you enjoy :)
(You can find the others in the tab above)

I can't believe that is Wednesday already. I always feel that once a Wednesday at school has passed, which is always the most boring day, that the last two days always go really quick. I can't wait for the weekend, I don't think I'm doing anything special yet but it's great to have days off even if it is only two days! Here's another Time to Smile post - I think I could be running out of things that make me smile pretty soon. I'll just have to get my thinking cap on :)

121. Great blogs which I love reading but can also relate to

122. perfume testing in shops

123. Marilyn Monroe quotes, definitely inspirational

124. babies! (I'm not broody as I'm only 16 but they are just too cute!)
I love their little hands and feet.

125. good photo taking!
(Half the time I'm rubbish)

I was also really pleased today that I found out that I had recieved an award 'The Versatile Blogger Award' for the second time!! I promise to do the rules of recieving the award tomorrow. But for now: have a really lovely day.

Couldn't Say It Better Myself!

I'm sick of people thinking I'm a swot, nerd whatever you want to call it and when someone said the other week 'I loved school' I just thought to myself 'hold on a sec you know nothing about me and the truth is I dislike school and I can't wait to go to sixth form!' But he wouldn't know that because he knows nothing about me and he is quite frankly a dick! I hate swearing on my blog but there is no other way to describe him. I do my work, get my grades and will succeed in doing something I want to, probably unike him and other people who obviously think along the same lines about me.

Anyway I found this over at Jen's blog and well frankly I felt like I could really relate to it and thought I would post it on here:

Monday, 14 March 2011

Hey guys! I'm terribly sorry for my lack of posts recently and my last one wasn't even a proper one. I know I'm a little late in mentioning this but I'm sure everyone has heard of the Japan earthquake and tsunami and I just wanted to say on here that I'm thinking of them out there. I hope that if anyone has relatives that live there, they are fine and even if you live in California or other states that have been affected by the waves that everyone is okay too. The whole thing is just terrible!

My lack of posts has really came down to the fact that I have had nothing to post about! I've still being reading everyone's blogs and I don't really have any inspiration :( Yesterday I popped to the shops and got a couple of new tops and got my hair cut - it's shorter than it was but still the same style. But apart from that I haven't really been up to much. Have you done much this weekend? Let me know :)

It'sssss Pancake Day!

It's Shrove Tuesday today aka Pancake Day!

I don't normally have pancakes, maybe only two or three times a year, mainly because of the fact that I can't make them and I love my toast for breakfast! So this will be a nice treat when I have some later on. I'll probably be boring and only have lemon juice or sugar on mine instead of something extravagant but hey ho. I'm not that big of a fan of raspberries but I would love some strawberries with mine!

Anyone else having pancakes today and if you are what's your topping? :)

First Time For Everything!

Hope everyone had a great weekend and that you've been able to get through today. Agh Monday - the first day of the week where you have to get up early and the first day of school for the rest of the week. This morning when I woke up, I instantly thought 'I can't be bothered today and with the rest of the week!' But I got through it and I've had a few laughs throughout the day! Including a funny incident when a girl fell off her chair - it might sound mean to laugh but it really was funny.

On saturday, my mam's friend came to our house for the last time for a while with her baby. It was great to see them again because we normally only see them every two/three years because she lives down in Devon and we live in the North-East. Anyway back to the point of the post: my mam's friend was saying that we should go to hers again in August and that maybe we should go camping in Cornwall. My mam's friend and her partner are really 'outdoorsy' people and she loves camping!

(Cornwall)

When I think of camping I think of mud, rain and more mud but I think there are a lot of misconceptions out there about it even though there are some really nice sites. Hope we're near the beach!

My mam said that it would be a good laugh if we did go camping in August with them, her baby and her two dogs. So that's the plan! My mam has always claimed that she would like to go camping but would probably moan to much if the weather is rubbish (which i will probably join her in doing!) but because her friend is going it would be really funny which I'm sure it will! I'm looking forward too it as I've never done it before and you should always try something new. I'm sure my dog will love it too :)

This is me trying something new - I hope the weather is good and even if it is, my wellies are definitely coming with me! Have you been camping before? Was it good fun?
